Brazilian Flag Origami Art Piece Presented to the Embassy of Brazil in Japan

On August 16, Executive Director Hitoshi Yamano of the Saitama Prefectural Government Sports Bureau visited the Embassy of Brazil in Japan to present H. E. Ambassador André Aranha Corrêa do Lago with a gift: a Brazilian National Flag made entirely out of origami.

The framed flag was carefully constructed by combining more than 700 individual pieces of origami to form a three-centimeter-thick, three-dimensional work of art.

The origami pieces used in the artwork's creation were all folded by attendees at the recent 'Tokyo 2020 2 Years to Go!' event, held on July 21 and 22.

Upon receiving the gift, Ambassador Corrêa do Lago expressed his deep gratitude and intentions to proudly display the flag at the Brazilian Embassy.

The close friendship between Federal Republic of Brazil and Saitama Prefecture continues to grow ever stronger, with around 7,300 Brazilian citizens currently living in Saitama Prefecture.

We hope everyone in Saitama Prefecture will offer their wholehearted support to athletes from both Brazil and Japan during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
